This quilt was a study in setting in corners. The soft blue and yellow of this quilt makes it ideal for a baby boy’s room, or stroller. The pastel blue and white print, with touches of red are the basic squares. They are set off with blue and yellow marbled fabric for the sashing. I used yoyos tied on with small leaf shaped buttons as a finishing detail.

Fall Pinwheels for Leslie
11 05 2010This small accent piece was given as a gift to my friend. The colors have strong contrast, and complimented her extensive collection of Czech pottery. Four simple pinwheels, put together, actually make five pinwheels. The forest green offsets the gold stripe pattern. It is a center piece for her kitchen table.

Charming
11 05 2010This quilt was started in a class of one-patch designs. I selected the square, with smaller squares triangulated off the corners. There are no repeats in the blocks, and the amazing variety of colors and patterns, a true scrappy quilt, is mesmerizing. You can study this one for hours. I used multi-colored thread in the quilting, an all-over meander.

Solstice 1
6 05 2010My daughter commissioned a wall hanging quilt for her living room in California. I decided on a drunkards path pattern, in muted pinks, blues, tans, reds, containing lots of birds and flowers, and a splash or two of black. I added a doily crocheted by her great grandmother, as the “moon”, an homage to the lady who taught my daughter how to crochet. The room where this quilt hangs has a glass wall looking out over a magnificent native garden which host birds of all sorts.

Pinwheel Set
9 04 2010This pair of ornamental quilts is a study in dimension. The high contrast colors of red, black and cream make pinwheels with lots of motion. Hang one on a wall and place its mate on a table to bring drama to the dining room.

Harvest Squares
5 04 2010This quilt was made for a raffle at the school where I worked. Constructed of squares, in autumn colors. It is arranged on a diagonal to give a sense of direction and flow. The piece was a hit and made lots of money for the school.
